National Careers Week

National Careers Week is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year from 1st- 6th March and aims to encourage families to have conversations about careers and the world of work, especially this year in these challenging times to help young people to start exploring careers, spark their curiosity and build hope by talking about their plans for the future during NCW 2021. There are a range of resources to help and these can be found using: https://ncw2021.co.uk/welcome/start/

There will also be a virtual careers fair which will go live on day 1 on NCW 2021. No registration is required for the virtual event and students should use the following website to access the fair: www.ncw2021.co.uk

NCW 2021 has also provided a very helpful NCW Parents Guide 2021. A link to the NCS 2021 The Future Of Work Guide 2021 has also been provided to help parents and students to start thinking about how the world of work and jobs sectors in the future are changing.

We have also attached three resources provided by NCW 2021 which can be used by students and parents together at home to encourage conversations about potential careers, building a careers portfolio and developing employability skills:

NCW 2021 Careers Conversations Activity 1

NCW 2021 Careers Conversations Activity 2

NCW 2021 Careers Conversations Activity 3

The NHS has also launched a ‘Step Into The NHS’ competition for students to enter as part of NCW 2021 activities. There are more than 350 different careers in the NHS and with that many careers on offer there are jobs to suit lots of people no matter what their interests and skills are. The Step Into The NHS competition invites young people to choose an NHS career that interests them and to create a job description and an ad to tell their friends and other young people about it. Students can work on their own or in teams of up to four and information about the competition is provided in the resource below:
