The Sixth Form
You will be able to pursue the Gold Award. The scheme includes expeditions in the Yorkshire Dales, Service and Skills’ components, and helps you to develop teamwork and leadership skills.

You have the opportunity to lead Stage Crew, co-direct and stage manage productions, co-lead Drama clubs and team teach KS3. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in productions at professional venues as a performer or at a technical level.

You will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of musical ensembles including Orchestra, String Ensemble, Show Band and Choir. Trips to see live performances and a 3 day residential are also open to instrumentalists. You can also access individual instrumental tuition during or after school through our Encore provision.

This competition gives you the opportunity to understand how the law touches every aspect of life and gain an insight into how the legal justice system works.
We are given access to resources, including specially written criminal cases, to help the team prepare legal arguments. After preparation, our team will take part in a regional heat and go head-to-head with other schools to prosecute and defend the cases. Winning teams will then compete in a National Final which is judged by some of the most senior members of the Judiciary.

You can become involved in sporting activities through coaching, leading, assisting and also playing sport. With our Sports Academy you have the opportunity to achieve your sporting ambitions, being trained by experienced coaches through timetabled training and conditioning sessions.
The Sports Academy teams for netball and rugby play weekly fixtures. In addition, students can participate in other sports such as basketball, hockey, and table tennis.

You have the opportunity to study Mandarin Chinese from beginner level by joining the Sixth Form GCSE group. Linked to our core language subjects, we run biennial exchange programmes to France, Germany, and Spain. Additionally, you can volunteer as mentors to help out in lower school language lessons.

Through Young Enterprise, you’ll figure out how to manage money, develop employability skills and maybe even launch a business. More than that, you will grow your confidence, discover what you are capable of and start shaping your own path.
Best of all, these skills and experiences are exactly what employers and further and higher education institutions are looking for – they will help young people stand out from the crowd, whatever pathway they choose.
