Charities
Supporting Our Community Together
At Harrogate Grammar School, charitable giving is a long‑standing tradition that reflects our REACH values. Each academic year, our students and staff come together to support a chosen charity, raising both awareness and vital funds through a variety of vibrant, student‑led events.
This year is no different, and our charity programme is already off to an inspiring start. Throughout the year, students from every year group have the opportunity to get involved in fun, inclusive and energetic fundraising activities that not only bring our community together, but also make a meaningful difference beyond our school.

Dress‑Down Days
At the end of each term, we invite students to take part in our ever‑popular dress‑down days. These , feel‑good events create a brilliant atmosphere around the school and consistently raise fantastic amounts for our charity. A small donation from each student adds up to a significant contribution to our annual fundraising total.
School Discos
Our Year 7 and 8 discos provide a chance for students to celebrate, socialise and support a great cause at the same time. Organised with enthusiasm and creativity, these events are a highlight of the academic year and are always well attended.
Charity Obstacle Course
One of our most exciting additions to the fundraising calendar is the charity obstacle course. Students test their agility, teamwork and determination as they navigate a series of fun physical challenges—all in the name of raising money and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
Bizarre Bazaar
A much‑loved fixture of the year, the Bizarre Bazaar brings together stalls, games, crafts and entertainment in a lively, colourful fair. Students and staff collaborate to design and run stalls, showcasing talent and imagination while fundraising for a vital cause.
House Events
Our house system plays a central role in championing charitable action. Throughout the year, houses compete in a variety of events—from sports to creative competitions—each contributing to our charity efforts. These events promote teamwork, friendly competition and a shared sense of purpose.
Chosen Charity Just B
Together, these activities help us cultivate a strong culture of giving, kindness and community pride. We are incredibly grateful for the
support of our students, staff and families, and we look forward to another successful year of fundraising for our chosen charity which this year is Just B.
Just B is a specialist bereavement support and emotional wellbeing service helping children, young people and adults across the communities of North Yorkshire, as well as offering specialist support regionally and nationally.
