Our school

Eco-Schools

This year our school has decided to actively protect our local and global environment by becoming an Eco-School. Eco-Schools is a global programme which currently engages 19.5 million children across 67 countries.

By opting in, we become part of the largest educational programme on the planet.

Eco-Schools aims to empower children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework, shown below, in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

Eco-Schools develops students’ skills, raises environmental awareness, improves the school environment and creates financial savings for schools as well as creating opportunities for students to develop leadership and communication skills.

Having carried out a detailed Environmental Review the committee chose to focus on three action areas. These form our three projects for this year:

  1. Energy: making sure our energy usage is sustainable.
  2. Healthy Living: looking after our own physical and mental wellbeing.
  3. Waste: Thinking about the 5r’s (refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle).

We will update this page with regular updates about our progress.
