Why do schools close when it snows?

CEO of Red Kite Learning Trust, Richard Sheriff talks about the “tricky balancing act” of deciding whether to close schools during ‘snow days’ and the toll of abuse teachers face on social media.

Aligned Autonomy For Secondary Curriculum

With five secondary schools serving very diverse catchments we have looked to achieve a state of ‘aligned autonomy’ which celebrates the difference of our schools and allows leaders at all levels to make decisions which best serve their communities.

The HGS Marvellous Minibus Fundraising Campaign

The Harrogate Grammar School PTA, registered charity 508520, invites you to support the school fundraising campaign this year for a new minibus.

A new minibus costs around £40,000 and this is money the school just doesn’t have.

Our minibuses are so important to our students and school life. Not only do they take children to sporting fixtures from Newcastle to London, but they pick up children from home when they live in rural areas without a bus service. Every week they take children to Forest Upper School and outdoor facilities in the Dales. Every year they make visits to University Open days. They enable children to take part in regional competitions and they are key to the booming Duke of Edinburgh award scheme at HGS. The minibuses are also important in the local community helping local football clubs and the sea cadets.

Our U16 Boys Football Team are County Champions

Congratulations to our U16 Boys Football Team who are County Champions after winning the cup final recently. Well done to St Aidans who made it through to the final and thank you to Queen Ethelburga's for hosting the match.
