Open events

Our November virtual open event features an introduction from the Headteacher and the Director of Sixth Form, a 3d virtual tour of our facilities, and video introductions from subject teachers covering all 40 courses on offer. The videos provide all of the key course information, and also feature current students speaking about subjects in order to give prospective students a really strong insight into each of the courses on offer.

In January/February, we host two taster sessions where students can gain a real insight into what the subjects they are interested in will really be like. The first taster day takes place in the school day for students currently studying at Harrogate Grammar School. This day involves an introductory assembly followed by taster lessons. The second taster session takes place on Saturday afternoon where both parents/carers and students from across the region are invited to visit the school and attend short 20 minutes taster sessions. There is also an introductory talk from the Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form who explain the outstanding progress and progression that students make in the Sixth Form and also the entry requirements.

In the Summer term, a number of induction events take place to further prepare you for life in the Sixth Form. These events are designed to familiarise you with processes in the school, but more importantly to ensure that you are comfortable in your new environment and so that you begin to make new friends and know key staff before the start of term. Our welcome buffet is our final event before we break for the Summer holidays and before results day where we finally confirm your place.
