Careers Fair

At Harrogate Grammar School we are committed to providing an effective careers education programme to help prepare our students for their chosen career path. As they progress through the school, students are increasingly encouraged to take opportunities to add to their skills and experience in ways that will prepare them for the future. We aim to offer students the opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths and support them in their decision-making through individual advice and guidance.

Purpose of the evening

The annual Careers Fair and is open to students in Years 7 – 13 of Harrogate Grammar School together with their parents. We typically have around 80 employer/business stands attending the event and over 500 students and parents who have come each year which demonstrates how much we as a school and students appreciate those who can support for our event. The aims of the evening are:

  • to raise students’ awareness of a wide range of career and educational opportunities
  • to provide access to people working directly in a variety of sectors who are able to offer advice and guidance
  • to help students make informed decisions about their future by encouraging them to seek out information regarding courses and career paths which interest them
  • to help students begin to prepare for a chosen career path as early as possible and begin to build up relevant skills and experience

We have had a number of parents, local businesses and former HGS alumni who have enjoyed supporting this event in the past and it has been greatly appreciated by our students. If you feel you are able to share your knowledge and expertise at the Careers Fair, either as an individual talking about your profession or by representing a business or company, then please contact:
