Yorkshire Schools Champions for Rugby U16s !

Harrogate Grammar School U16 rugby team are Yorkshire School’s Champions after defeating Crossley Heath, Halifax, 20-22 at QEGS.

The Y11 team, full of confidence, took on the favourites, Crossley Heath, at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS), Wakefield, in what was to be one of the most fiercely contested finals in years. An outstanding display of sheer guts and determination kept Harrogate Grammar School in the contest; 8-3 down at half time. Every player deserves to be mentioned, but the quartet of Haddleton, Tasker, Robinson and Palmer were the stand out performances that eventually determined the winners. With tries from Tasker (2) and Haddleton, and the excellent boot of Hampson, adding 2 conversions and a penalty, Harrogate Grammar School finally ran out 20-22 winners.

With the vast majority of this squad staying on to Sixth Form and the talented squad of players coming through from Y10, senior rugby at Harrogate Grammar School is looking as strong as it has for years!
