Success at Harrogate Competitive Festival

The Senior Choir took part in the Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama again this year and retained the Senior Choir Trophy that was won last year. The adjudicator was bowled over by the quality of the singing and particularly the unaccompanied song, Come In and Stay A While. The Senior Choir also sang John Rutter’s version of The Gaelic Blessing.

The Senior Choir then also came second, with distinction, in the Choral Challenge Class loosing out to an adult barbershop choir.

Junior Choir were also at the Festival and came second in their class, again with a distinction. They sang brilliantly and we’re just pipped at the post, as the adjudicator said. They sang, One Voice by Barry Manilow, (soloists in this were, Holly Knibbs, Phoebe Kiriakopoulos and Grace Brennan, all year 8 students), and concluded the programme with a wonderful rendition of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida.
