HGS recently put on a host of events for National Mental Health Awareness Week, there was a wide range of activities available to students, each one enabling the students to take time out of their academic studies to talk to staff and trained peer mentors.

80 Sixth Form students participated in the tenth and highly prestigious ‘Big Interview Day’, with employees from IBM and senior professionals from other businesses in attendance. The aim of the day is to give students an insight into life after secondary education.

Earlier this year students in Year 7 and 8 spent an enjoyable week reading as many books as they could for the ‘Read for Good’ sponsored reading challenge. HGS has supported Read for Good for 10 years and this year saw an impressive £2777 raised.
