William Eley and Manmeet Sidhu are both year 13 students studying A Level Theatre Studies at Harrogate Grammar School and have been members of the National Youth Theatre (NYT) of Great Britain for one and two years respectively. There are over 1500 members of the NYT and 120 were called to auditions last week in London. Will and Mani were two of these and they have successfully been chosen to perform in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer in a cast of just 25.

“It was a tough process which involved dance and drama audition sections” said Will, who played the role of Tony in Harrogate Grammar School’s recent production of West Side Story. “We are really excited to be given the chance to perform on an international forum” added Mani, also a member of English Youth Ballet. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Harrogate Grammar School students and the school is very proud of their achievement.
